Children need to be protected, their rights respected, implemented

Children are left, right and center in all matters concerning a nation and the international community. Security, food, health and education, among others are rights that children are entitled to by law.
The first International Children Protection Conference that aims to provide a platform for mobilizing and consolidating the community of practice on child protection in Africa and across the globe will start on 8th-10th August at Daystar University Valley Road campus auditorium.
The three-day conference seeks to identify gaps in child protection within the African continent, share emerging good practices and innovations on child protection, identify priority advocacy issues to enhance child protection in Africa and challenge child protection practitioners to embrace zero tolerance on practices that prevent protection of children.
Eight keynote speakers from both local and international forums will be expected to present their abstracts on way forwards to help children move from “Vulnerability to Resilience, Innovation and Evidence” in the slotted sessions which is this years theme.
Expected guests of honour include; Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Labor & Social Protection Mr. (AMBA) Ukur Yattani EGH, Nelson Marwa Sospeter, EBS Permanent Secretary – Ministry of Labor & Social Protection and Noah Sanganyi Director of Children Services, State department & Social Protection.
The sub-areas of concern for children include;
- Children affected and infected with HIV;
- Gender based violence and violence against children;
- Children living on the streets;
- Children in conflict with the law
- Children in conflict situation;
- Children and technology;
- Children in extreme poverty;
- Children in hazardous environment;
- Children with special needs;
- Children in institutions;
- Any other forms of child vulnerability.
